The Legend Of Zelda
The
only game in these top 5 by Nintendo, but it really deserves it's
place. A few years ago I would have said that LoZ was my favorite game
outright, and now it still ranks pretty high. Putting aside nostalgic
memories of the n64 and the Gameboy, the series has remained constant
and continued to produce enchanting and testing games ever since it
first started, I've thoroughly enjoyed every Zelda game I've played,
even if I am a little sceptical about their latest release; Skyward
Sword. I love the combat style, the visuals, the music, the brain
teasers and virtually everything about the games, except perhaps the
odd REALLY annoying character. Some people criticise the Zelda series
saying all their games are the same, which isn't really true, although
many of them share similarities, it's a formula that works and I can't
get enough of it, the whole dungeon exploring, key-item finding,
destroying boss with key-item thing just really does it for me, and
even though the games are a little short sometimes, they make up for it
in side quests and replay value.
The games don't really have an online or co op so to speak of, but some
of their DS ones have something, so I gave them a few points for that.
I find that the games are almost like drugs, I get so addicted to them
when I start playing and that little tune when you open a door of find
a secret area gives me some sort of high. The Zelda games are much more
than just puzzle games; they're a whole story-like adventure in
themselves, one that I could play again and again.
